Setting Your Goals
Reading time: 2 minutes
We can give you numerous reasons why exercise will improve your quality of life: stress relief, improved mental wellbeing, better sleep quality, a healthier heart, improved posture and a reduction in day-to-day aches & pains, to name just a few. But you probably know all of this. You need to find a goal which is personal to you. Think back to why you decided to sign up for this, because that will give you a good starting point.
Our intention for this programme is to get you into the routine of exercising regularly whilst instilling the importance of movement for the mind and body. Now it’s your turn. What do you want to achieve in the short term? Then consider the long term. How do you want to look and feel this time next year?
It has been proven in numerous studies that those who set goals prior to embarking on an exercise regime are more likely to achieve better results than those who do not. In fact, a Harvard business study revealed those people who set goals are 10 times more successful than those who don’t. Furthermore, of those with goals, people who write them down are 3 times more successful than those who don’t. Without them there is a tendency to drift.
When setting your goals, there is no right or wrong, just make sure to write it down. Reflect on how important that target is for you because that will help you commit to it. If you think it will help you to share your goal we’d love to hear it so drop us a message. Pin it to your computer screen at work or the fridge at home, somewhere you’ll see it every day. If you have days where you feel demotivated, this could become hugely valuable in reminding you what this programme means and why you signed up.
Of course, it won’t be easy to achieve, nothing worth having is, but it is possible and with a bit of drive and determination it is within reach.
