Forming New Habits & Making Them Stick!

The 12 Week ‘Evolve’ Plan is often a follow on to the 6 Week Online Body Transformation Programme. If you are coming straight into it from the ‘OBT’, the last 6 weeks will have been very active. The 6 Week Online Body Transformation Programme is designed to improve our activity levels, sleep, stress levels and eating habits, however we appreciate these aspects of health & wellbeing cannot be solved in just 42 days. At Evolution Health & Fitness our programmes are not about ‘quick fixes’. Yes, the Online Body Transformation is a 6 week kickstart plan but it’s not supposed to end there! Our philosophy is about consistency… move more, control your calorie intake and find activities which you enjoy doing and can make part of your lifestyle.

A study by the University College London found that, on average, it takes 66 days to build a habit. However, it could be anywhere from 18 to 245 days. Fitness doesn’t come naturally to many but we must persevere to ensure it becomes ingrained and part of our lifestyle. Although it should and can be fun, it’s more important than that - it dictates our quality of life. As we have said before, if someone offered you a pill to live a longer and healthier life would you take it? Of course! Exercise, diet and lifestyle choices have been proven to give you a much better chance of being healthier for longer so why don’t all of us do it? Because it’s difficult and most of us do difficult things all day so when it comes to our leisure time, we want to take it easy…but what if you found something you enjoyed, and you got into a habit of doing that thing a few times a week. This is all most of us are striving for.

Regarding calorie control, we completely understand that it’s not everyone’s choice to count calories forever. However, many people find it very useful and it’s a sure-fire way to know exactly what is going into your body. It’s vital to try to balance how many calories go in and how much energy goes out and, as we know, it is impossible to out-train a bad diet.

Just a reminder that if you haven’t done so within the last month, make sure you have completed and recorded your current measurements and fitness testing session this week (see FAQs for instructions on how to record these stats in the app and to print off your fitness testing record sheet).
